This quarter's Thread event was held at the Chocolate Box Café in La
Delicious truffles, my favorite being the lemon. The chile had a nice bite but wasn't overwhelming.
Ganaches - mango was really good. So good that I don't remember what the others were!
My favorite was the pomegranate:
Glass canisters lining the counter held flavored chocolate shavings. Frothed into steamed, hot milk, it's the best hot chocolate ever:
Huntington Catering Company provided food - this was their beef wellington appetizer. Tasty but the wine used to cook the meat made me a little woozy:
There are some cool things about chocolate box cafe. Packaging is as pretty as the product. Harmik, one of the owners, is so generous with his space and letting you sample the chocolates. And if you need a space for a little (or not so little) gathering, you can rent out the area. In addition to his specialty in chocolates, he also offers gourmet coffee drinks. :) If he had wifi and outlets, id be there all the time.
We ended the mixer with a big cake from Cakes by the Pound. These people really know what they're doing. Chocolate cake with a mint cream ganache and a crunchy cookie layer.
Kendra didn't finish her cake...i'm so disappointed in her!!!!!
