weekend update

i've come to 2 realizations after this weekend:
1. i need to go to the gym...or think about going to the gym
2. i'm getting too camera happy

it could be worse.

Friday was spent decorating the meeting room to make it look festive. We're pretty bad about bringing in the holiday cheer and felt a little guilty after seeing some nice window displays at other flower shops. I try to tell myself "we're not a storefront" but regardless, we should still make it nice. In our usual manner, we scrounged and rummaged around hq, and came up with this:

*these snowflakes are from a project i had about 4 years ago. i came across quilling after getting a martha stewart magazine - it was love at first sight. the frames are temporary wall decals from ikea. we've had these frames for the last 6 months. my bad.
*what a wooden box, candles, ornaments, and a vase of flowers can do for you

saturday was a packed day of consultations and finalizations. i think i was fully functioning by the time the second bride came, thanks to my new supersized coffee cup. it's a cow print with legs and an udder on the bottom. i think it holds a good 16-20oz. kekekek

One of the highlights of Saturday was FINALLY going to Scoops, FINALLY with Annie. We've been planning this for months, maybe even year. We had a good chat. Annie makes me laugh :)

*my bowl of ice cream cream. it's not my fault that scoops offers two scoops in one order of ice cream, or that I got one scoop + one thinking that it was 3 but it was really 4. i loved the crunchiness that grape nuts provided in the brown bread ice cream. vanilla jasmine was strong but not soapy, and the strawberry tarragon was mild and...not artificial. coconut horchata was really refreshing!

I was also able to sample the other flavors, such as goat cheese lavendar (not as bad as you would think), japanese squash (like a sweet butternut squash soup), pistachio cardamom (oddly like fruit loops), chocolate guinness (a little lacking in the guinness part), and banana kahlua. this is the beginning of realization #1.

saturday was also thai's birthday party. meet thai:

*a family shot with my cousins and thai
*thai being uncomfortably close to me
*his shirt is hilarious
*david getting close with doug...don't be jealous ellison...it didn't mean anything
*some of the loudest boys ever

Now onto Sunday...and this is how my day started:
*dim sum from yum cha cafe @ 2pm. We got all this for under $10

And then, not too long after, we went to islands to meet up with David's sister and nephews (this is when realization #1 is hitting hard). Nathan and Brendan are 5 and 2, respectively. Happa kids are so cute.
*this is brendan. he can eat forever
*l-r: nathan, brendan, and pat. nathan is super smart!

And here we are today, Monday. Kendra and I had to head down to oc for a delivery and while we were there, we wanted to check out Cream Pan, a Japanese bakery in Tustin known for strawberry croissants and azuki croissants. Unfortunately they're closed Mondays. Disappointed, we 'settled' for the runner up destination - Donut Man. I cannot deny Kendra or Kendra's baby.

*my box of donuts: a pumpkin cheesecake, glazed chocolate, tiger tail, and an old fashioned.
*an apple fritter, apple crumb, chocolate bar, and fernando ackerman

okay, finally done!

*edit: i forgot to add that I watched Transporter 3 on Sunday! I loved the first one and thought that the second was entertaining (to an extent). Wanting to watch the third was like a bad habit...you know you shouldn't do it, but you just gotta. I couldn't resist the high action campiness that is Transporter. While the third installment is not worth reporting on, I will say that Jason Statham is handsome.

The office looks amazing. I'll have to check it out on Thursday. When are we having "clean up" day?

Creme Pan next time for sure! I checked out their pictures on yelp...looked interesting. DonutMan is definitely killing me slowly...but still tasty.
