"work" round 2

the other day was packed with "networking" and "working". at certain points in time, when all you're really doing is chilling with cool people and eating good food, it really doesn't seem like a job anymore!

the day started with a Picture Perfect Event hosted luncheon/thread event at la mill, a boutique coffeeshop that i've been wanting to try for the last few months. i read about it on a food blog that i frequent (a.k.a stalk). it wasn't so much the food but the decor that really captured my attention. it was classy yet kinda kitschy. my pictures totally don't do it justice so i guess you must go see for yourself.

*vintage gilded mirror...you can sorta see the chandelier in the reflection

*the color palette of teal, powder blue, red, and gold is chic and unexpected

*i was a little intimidated busting out my camera in front of the other vendors there who, along with some letterpress designers, all happened to be VERY talented photographers. but when the food came, no one paid attention so i snagged a photo. keke

*cafe con leche - 4 shots of espresso, soymilk, and brown sugar. i also learned how to pronounce "chemex"! duuuh

*my lovely lunch - a panini of a bunch of ingredients that i don't remember. the thing that caught my eye for the final decision was "coffee washed" cheese. it was pretty good.

*kelley's food - a tuna tartare with grated egg yolk.

Final verdict? Pricey...but great for ambiance (unless you were there when we were there - it sounded like dim sum) and something to experience at least once. Where else can you pay $6 for a cup of coffee? :)

After a lovely lunch (and an emergency - see dec. 3rd) it wasn't over! We went to an open house at the Westin. Businesses from all over pasadena were invited to check out the venue, nosh, and meet others. And while we should have been talking to more people, the food distracted us quite a bit.
* so festive

*one of many food stations - this was the chicken and waffles with a twist station. coleslaw was served atop along with candied pecans.

*a taste of beef tenderloin with madeira wine sauce, roasted tomato risotto and big fat shrimp

*i'm going to get in trouble for not calling michelle
*cheese and crackers galore!

*a sight from the terrace

*ending the night with sweets - this was my raspberry parfait with vanilla custard and chocolate cake. i also had pineapple, a creme puff that i ditched after a bite, more coffee, another parfait (these were shot glass size okay?!), and some cake...and probably something else.

I think Kelley is secretly trying to get Kendra and me fat cuz she keeps taking us to places with good food.

Don't hate me because I'm full!
